Who Could Say No?

Normally, when someone mentions “spin class,” the first thoughts are usually something along the lines of “Oh no, spin class? It’s so long, and sweaty, and just, ick.” But when we were invited to the grand opening of Prime Cycle’s newest downtown Hoboken location, which featured a live performance from Naughty by Nature (during the class!), we simply couldn’t pass up the offer; and we’re extremely glad we didn’t. Between the awesome performance, the amazing staff, and the awe-inspiring studio, we were seriously tempted to pick up a set of classes for ourselves. Before the event started, Prime’s GM, Corinne Fleming, sat with The Digest to answer a few questions about the new studio as well as her history with the company.

All About Prime

Digest: How did you get involved with Prime Cycle?

Fleming: My husband is actually one of the owners of Prime Cycle, but when we opened the first studio in 2014 I was busy raising my two little girls and wasn’t ready to get back to work just yet. As time passed and Prime Cycle started to grow in 2015, it was time to jump on the train, get back to work and start managing the studio! I had already been regularly taking classes there as a fitness fanatic and combined with my previous management background, the transition was seamless.

D: Any reason for choosing this specific location?

F:  70 Hudson Street, which is right across the street from the PATH Station, is really the center of the bustling hub of that is downtown Hoboken. We knew instantly when seeing it that this would be a perfect location.

D: For those unfamiliar, could you explain a bit how your spin classes work?

F: Our classes are all rhythm based riding (we ride to the beat of the music) combined with choreographed upper body movements for a total body workout. It’s a sweaty, heart pumping and calorie torching workout all in a state-of-the-art studio with theatrical lighting. We have abilities ranging from pro-athletes to first timers all in one room. Spinning, in general, is also an excellent low-impact workout for all ages and fitness abilities, which is why it is so popular. Our classes are either a 45-minute cycle, a 60-minute cycle or a hybrid class where we do a 45-minute cycle plus 15 minutes of toning off the bike.

D: What kind of packages does Prime offer?

F: Classes can be purchased individually, in packages of five, ten or twenty, or we also offer an unlimited ride pass on a month-by-month basis. We have our huge grand opening January sale going on right now with reduced rates for all packages and an unlimited monthly ride pass for only $200!

D: Anything we can be looking forward to in the near future?

F: Next up this winter at Prime will be a riding challenge with incentives and prizes for riders to keep those resolutions rocking and make 2017 your healthiest and happiest year yet! Those endorphins really do make you happier, so get out there and book your bike and Ride Prime!
