Five Foodie Apps You Need To Download

Eating healthy will never go out of style, so you may as well go all in and do it right. Whether you’re looking for new recipes or need a way to organize all your current ones, these five foodie apps should be on your phone’s home screen.

Fooducate, iPhone or Android
This apps slogan says it all, “eat a bit better.” If you’re on a mission to start eating healthier but are overwhelmed with the variety of choices as you walk down the grocery store aisles, Fooducate will make your decisions easier. After downloading the app, you simply scan the barcode of the product you’re interested in learning more about and it will tell you how healthy the item is based on a letter grade from A-D. It also shows the calories per serving and the percentage of users who like/dislike the product. With so many products all claiming to be the best for you, Fooducate will show you which brands are actually worth the money.

Gojee, iPhone or Android

Your mouth will instantly start to water as you browse through the photos of dishes available on Gojee. The app collects food and drink recipes from world renowned chefs and categorizes them for easy searching. Whether you’re a rookie cook wanting to amp up your skills or are a seasoned chef yourself, you’ll be able to find a delicious recipe to wow family and friends.

BigOven, iPhone or Android
BigOven is essentially your grandma’s binder of recipes in digital format. Users can organize all their recipes by customizable categories, search for new ones, add notes and calculate calories of ingredients. Another perk of BigOven is its three ingredient recipe generator. We all have leftover products or spices in our kitchen that we have no idea what to do with. But with BigOven, you can type in three ingredients you want to use and it will list different recipes to chose from.

VegOut, iPhone

I am and always will be a meat eater, but I sympathize with the constant struggle of dining out for vegetarians and vegans. VegOut eliminates the worry of “Will I be able to find something on the menu here?” Whether you plan to travel to a new city or are just looking for a new spot in your hometown, VegOut will let you know what restaurants are vegan/vegetarian friendly along with their star rating and how far away they are from your current location.

Urbanspoon, iPhone or Android

A similar concept to VegOut, but a little more playful. If you cannot make up your mind about where you want to eat, let Urbanspoon do it for you. The app will determine your location and give you three choices of restaurants nearby. If you’re not a fan of any of the options, simply shake your phone and three more will pop up, just like a slot machine. You also have the alternate option to browse from categories like Talk of the Town and Most Popular.
