5 Upcoming WORD Bookstore Events

by Lauren Scrudato

It’s Print Week here at the Digest, and as we put together our 84-page magazine, we can’t help but give major props to writers who endure the continuous stress of editing and re-editing hundreds of pages to create their novel, along with the few remaining bookstore owners who maintain the passion for printed material. To celebrate, we’re sharing five upcoming events at the newly opened WORD Bookstore in Jersey City:

Jan. 11: Storytime with Thyra Heder and Fraidyzoo
Take your kiddos to WORD tomorrow at 11am to meet author and illustrator Thyra Heder for story and craft time. Heder will also feature Fraidyzoo, her picture book about a young girl named Little T who is afraid to visit the zoo. To help her get over her fear, her family dresses up and pretends to be different animals seen at the zoo. The event is recommended for children ages 4 to 10 but anyone is welcome.

Jan. 14: Springsteen Night with Caryn Rose and Marc Dolan
Bruce Springsteen recently released another new hit album, “High Hopes”, so to celebrate the New Jersey native’s accomplishment, two authors who have written about Springsteen will spend the evening debating about the living legend’s life, from his start to their predictions for his future. The event begins at 7:30pm and the authors include Marc Dolan, who wrote Bruce Springsteen and the Promise of Rock and Roll and Caryn Rose, author of Raise Your Hand: Adventures of an American Springsteen Fan.
