D’s Soul Full Cafe in the Digest Lunchbox

When it comes to a great dining experience, it’s about more than just the food. That’s where D’s Soul Full Cafe stands out, bringing together food, music, art, and the community. The Digest was lucky enough to experience some of D’s Soul food this past week.

Owner Dwight Thompson first started working in what was named Josh and Ive’s in 2005. He eventually worked his way up to a managerial role before purchasing the shop for himself in 2006. In 2011, local writer Stephen Bailey partnered with Thompson to grow the cafe’s community of good food, music, and art. The name D’s Soul Full Cafe was chosen from a contest of over 75 names and was unveiled at a Grand Re-Opening Ceremony on April 24th, 2010.

Veggie Wrap

The Digest staff got a chance to dive into some D Soul’s favorite wraps this past Monday, enjoying a yummy treat to beat the Monday blues. All were classics from the menu, with some favorites of ours standing out. We enjoyed the Jack’s Roast Beef, with their roast beef slow cooked in homemade Jack Daniel’s sauce, topped with melted mozzarella (and sauce on the side), and the Spicy Drunken Turkey, with turkey slow-cooked in homemade Jim Beam Bourbon sauce, avocado, pepper jack cheese, baby spinach, tomatoes, and chipotle mayo.

We also got to try the Veggie Special (which could be either a wrap or salad, we chose wrap) with lettuce, tomato, avocado and cucumber, and a choice of either herb mayo or hummus. The Honey Turkey Supreme, with honey turkey breast, melted jalapeno jack cheese, bacon, spinach, sundried tomato and honey mustard dressing was also delicious. Another favorite was the BBQ Bacon Chipotle Chicken, with breaded chicken, bacon, lettuce, bbq sauce, tomato, melted cheddar cheese, and chipotle mayo.

Thank you D’s Soul Full Cafe, the Digest Lunchbox strikes again!
